The worst winter for decades and it’s not just Britain that is suffering its fair share of snow and freezing temperatures, the U.S. is also under the white stuff though mostly on the Eastern side. However, upon landing in LA in early February for this years NHRA Winternationals it was pouring with rain and as black as soot but hopes were raised the following day when it brightened up sending the temperatures up into the eighties during the day. The 50th Anniversary of the NHRA Winternationals went extremely well but the earlier foul weather drifted from California over to Arizona and affected the race there the following weekend.
I finally managed to get away from trackside duties and attend one of the Crazy Horses book signings, sitting at the same table as American legends Don Garlits and Carl Olson, it was a very enjoyable evening at the NHRA Museum with the book getting a lot of attention.
One more U.S. race to go for me, then it’s on with the British and European races, a fact that I am looking forward to very much – so here’s to a great warm and dry summer.
